Google has decided to take the initiative of making the old magazine available online. To fulfill its plan Google has entered into agreements with dozens of publishers. The new service from Google will allow the users to browse magazine covers and to delve into individual issues, which will be presented in exactly the same way as they first appeared in print, including all the ads. The links to publishers' and magazine pages will be shown alongside the Google ads.
About two years ago, Google embarked on a scheme to scan and index millions of books. In September this year, the company launched a project to digitize newspaper archives. The newspaper archive service allows the users to search the archives of millions of newspapers and magazines all over the world. Readers are able to search the archives using keywords and view articles as they appeared originally in the print pages of newspapers.
The software engineer in charge of the new project of Google, Dave Foulser said that the magazine search service project is at the initial stage. With the passage of time, the company will scan more articles which will enable the users to see more and more magazines appear in Google book search results. He informed that Google will blend magazine results into the main Google.com search results.
