Earlier at the Web 2.0 Summit, Google had announced that it would launch a social search tool to search through Twitter feeds. But to everyone’s surprise it had introduced the ‘Google Social Search’ last week.
A company blog post said, “Today we're rolling out a new experiment on Google Labs called Google Social Search that helps you find more relevant public content from your broader social circle.”
“We've taken steps to improve the relevance of our search results with personalization, but today's launch takes that one step further. With Social Search, Google finds relevant public content from your friends and contacts and highlights it for you at the bottom of your search results,” the company blog post added.
Using the Google Social Search, the users can create a profile and add in links to social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn. Additionally they can also link to the Gmail contacts. The search results will then include a scan of those sites for relevant information. However, the results will ignore the private data.
