If all goes as planned then one will even be able to watch Bengali flicks on YouTube soon as well as go through the literary works of noted novelists over the internet. This is because such a move is being planned by Google, the world’s biggest and most popular search engine. Debesh Das, the State Information Technology Minister divulged that that West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee met Google India Managing Director Shailesh Rao-led team recently to discuss this very possibility.
As per the State Information Technology Minister, the Google Company is very upbeat about hosting Bengali films on YouTube and uploading famous literary works in its original, unhampered form over the web. The Minister pointed out that it is because the copyright issues are involved that the interference of the state government was sought. At present, a number of popular songs from the days of Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen are already uploaded on the YouTube for listening. Google
