According to reports from reliable sources of telecom industry, there are chances that the Internet search giant, Google Inc, may bid for forthcoming WiMax radio waves auctioning.

The telecom ministry had announced on Monday that the auctioning of 3G spectrum and WiMax will be held in January 2010. It has also mentioned that the foreign participants can be potential bidders, but if they win the auctions, they will have to form a joint venture with an Indian firm, where they can hold a maximum of 74% of stake.

As an alternative, Google could be just a technology partner to a telecom service provider, said the report.

When asked about the information regarding the same, Google spokesperson remained silent.
