Leading Internet search company of the world, Google Inc on Wednesday (February 4) came up with a software that can easily track mobile phones and other wireless devices. The new service called Google Latitude will enable the users to find the whereabouts of their friends and relatives. Using the new service of Google, the users in 27 countries can broadcast their location to others constantly.
According to Google, the application is designed keeping in mind the privacy factor of the users. The company claimed to provide authentic location data to its users. The location of the mobile users can be tracked on Google Map either from a handset or from a personal computer. The newly launched service from Google is similar to that of privately-held Loopt.
The Loopt services, offered by Verizon Wireless, work on Apple's iPhone. Verizon Wireless is owned by Verizon Communications and Vodafone Group Plc. The Google service will work on Research In Motion Ltd's Blackberry and devices running on Symbian S60 devices or Microsoft Corp's Windows Mobile and some T-1 Mobile phones running on Google's Android software. The mobile tracking software of Google will eventually work on Apple's iPhone and iTouch and on many Sony Ericsson devices.
