Google Inc announced on September 23, 2008 to launch its dream internet phone G1. The new Google phone which looks a lot like an iPhone will be marketed by US based T-Mobile. The new device with be available in the US market by October 22, 2008. Endowed with a large screen and easy access to Google's email, the G1 phone costs 179 US dollar. After its launch in US market, G1 would also be available in Britain and then to the rest of the European countries by 2009. One may also buy the Google phone from T-mobile's website. One of the main features of the newly launched phone is that is powered by Andriod. It is a software that enables Google's search engine and other services to become accessible to the users.
Other prominent features that the new Google phone incorporates are high resolution screen, which makes it easier to browse Websites; a slide out keyboard and mapping programs. The phone can be connected to Wi-Fi hotspots. A $25 data plan has to be bought for the new internet phone after every month. With the launch of new internet phone at an affordable price, Google is surely going to make its presence felt in the global mobile market. Its arch rivals Yahoo Inc and Microsoft Corp are investing highly in mobile market to prevent Google from leading the market.
