According to a Reuters report, the first mobile phone featuring Google Android operating system will make its debut with the launch of T-Mobile in USA on September 23. The release of Google Android operating system is eagerly awaited. But Google and T-Mobile are yet to confirm the launch date.
Google first announced the launch of Android operating system and the Open Handset Alliance in November 2007 with the aim of integrating internet services with mobile phone. Google's move poses a direct challenge to the leading players in the industry. While Google Android will be on a number of devices, Google made a strategic decision to have it launch on a single HTC handset.
Google hopes to capture a large share of the market by being more open than its competitors. Android Market — the application store which allows users to browse, purchase, install, and rate applications on Android handsets — is expected to be a major driver for Android adoption.
