Family owned DLF has been awarded with Golden Peacock for excellence in corporate governance by the Golden Peacock Awards Jury. The Golden Peacock Awards Jury headed by famous jurist and former Chief Justice of India PN Bhagwati decided to bestow the award to DLF and its transparent corporate governance.
The award was given at ceremony held in London. The function was illuminated with the presence of Ola Ullsten, former prime minister of Sweden, C B Bhave, chairman, Sebi; Madav Mehra, president, World Council for Corporate Governance, London; Mathew Cadbury, former managing director, Cadbury India; and Baroness Shreela Flather, member, House of Lords.
The dramatic development of DLF into a big MNC is exemplary and typical in India's corporate history. The company is currently headed by Indian billionaire Kushal Pal Singh, who in turn had inherited the company from Chaudhury Raghuvendra Singh. KP Singh, according to the Forbes listing of richest billionaires in 2008 is at 8th position.
