Global Graphics has made its PDF creation tool, gDoc Creator as a free download to the users. This tool had been launched earlier this year.
The gDoc Creator tool helps the users to convert the users files as PDF, PDF/A or XPS from any Windows application by using drag and drop user interface.
Previously the gDoc Creator tool was available at a price of £49. Now, the free-to-download version is added as a watermark across all PDF files created. Global Graphics has taken the step as a result of its refocus on the company strategy.
"Offering so much functionality for free will drive adoption in large enterprises at a time when their budgets are under extreme pressure. It also makes the basic free PDF software tools obsolete and puts real pressure on low-end paid-for PDF software," explained Global Graphics CEO Gary Fry.
The company has said that, its premium PDF tool, gDoc Fusion, will continue to be licensed and the users can get that with a new price structure starting at £200 per seat for one to four licences.
gDoc Fusion is associated with all the features as that of gDoc Creator, but it has an extra feature of assembling a document from multiple applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and XPS documents. Apart from that, it can work for various image files such as JPG and Tiff.
"When an enterprise realises the productivity benefits of the full version of gDoc Fusion, it’s a very simple process to then upgrade," Fry said.
He also said that the customers who registered gDoc Creator before 30 November would be allowed for a free upgrade to the full gDoc Fusion product.
