The prime accused of 2007 Glasgow airport bombing, Bilal Abdulla was sentenced to a 32-year prison term on December 17. However, the second accused of the case, neurologist Mohammad Asha was acquitted of all charges. Asha will be transferred to an immigration detention centre. According to his solicitor, Asha wants to continue his career and will fight for his rights.
Iraqi doctor, Bilal Abdulla was found guilty of conspiracy to murder and to cause explosions by the jury at Woolwich Crown Court. The trail last for nine weeks. Justice Mackay said that Abdulla harbored the most extreme form of Islamist views and he is a religious extremist and a bigot. The judgment stated that Bilal Abdulla has hatched enough resentment about the invasion of his country Iraq which motivated him to plan the terror attack on the Glasgow airport. According to the judges, all the evidences found against Abdulla claimed that he is a dangerous man and a threat to British public.
The only victim of the two failed attacks in London and Glasgow in June, 2007 was Kafeel Ahmed, Abdulla’s accomplice. A PhD student from India, Kafeel succumbed to severe burns that he suffered after driving the car bomb into the airport terminal. Police sources are confirmed of the fact that Bilal Abdulla was the leader of the terrorist cell and had indoctrinated and radicalised Ahmed to carry out attack at the airport.
