The fist human to human transfer of swine flu has been reported from Germany. According to reports, a nurse in Bavaria apparently got infected by the deadly swine flu virus from a patient who had been in Mexico. With this, the number of infected people in Germany stood at five. Meanwhile, the medical professionals have started an investigation to find out how the 42-year-old woman picked up the illness from a male patient in a hospital at Mallersdorf.
Meanwhile, Mexico has ordered a five-day shutdown as it struggled to contain swine flu. The disease seems to be spreading rapidly with over 450 confirmed cases being reported world over. In order to prevent the spread of swine flu, the Mexican government has suspended non-essential government business and also cancelled all official events.
According to official reports, swine flu has killed at least 160 people in Mexico. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has also raised the pandemic alert level to 5 owing to the rapid spread of the disease. The cases of swine flue were first detected in Mexico. According to reports, the disease has originated from a pig farming area in Mexico's eastern coastal state of Veracruz.
