A score during the 90th minute by Germany’s Philipp Lahm provided his team a cruising victory against Turkey on Wednesday, June 25 in the semi-final round of the ongoing 2008 UEFA European Football Championship. This win has now propelled the German team into the finals of the 2008 Euro Cup. Coming Sunday, Germany will play against either Spain or Russia in Vienna. It was during the 79th minute itself when it seemed that Germany would surge ahead after Miroslav Klose headed home to give them a 2-1 lead.
However the score got balanced after Turkey team’s Semih Senturk scored in the 86th minute from close range in what looked like another escape act by Fatih Terim's men. But Philipp Lahm again brought Germany into a winning position with a diligent shot into the top corner at St Jakob Park. Commenting on it later, the German player Lahm said, ‘It was one of most beautiful moments in my life, getting into the final.’ Thereafter, he added, ‘That's always beautiful. We missed that at the (2006) World Cup. Today it worked out.’
