Germany defeated Portugal 3-2 in Euro 2008 and reached to semi-final of the championship. The match was played at St Jacob Park and saw some exciting performances from both the sides. German forward Bastian Schweinsteiger scored the first goal and Miroslav Klose did another goal within four minutes of first goal. Nuno Gomes of Portugal did a goal for his struggling team just before the half time of the game. In later part of the game Portugal tried its best with many counter attacks but without any positive outcome.
 
Helder Postiga who came as substitute did many counter attacks for Portugal and made many good moves. But it was in 87th minute when he successfully ditched German captain and did a goal. This goal gave some hope to Portuguese but the destiny of the game was almost written by that time. Germany has now made to last four of the championship. Ballack seemed happy with his and his team’s performance and expected that his team will do better in the next match of the championship. Now Germany will meet the winner of Friday's match between Croatia and Turkey.
