The US-India nuclear bill is supposed to convert into a law on October 8, 2008 as the US President George W Bush has decided to sign the bill at a function to be held at the White House. With the signing of the bill, India will move forward to accomplish the 123 agreement with the US. In order to mark the historic occasion a select group of Indian American leaders has been invited in the White House. This group of Indian American leaders played a key role in the Congressional passage of this bill.
Besides them, some of the top Congressmen and senior officials of the Bush Administration are supposed to be present in the White House function this Wednesday. The process of Indo-US nuclear deal started during Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Sigh's visit to US on July 18, 2005. Since then the deal underwent many turn and twist from both sides. Earlier this week, both the Senate and House of Representative of US have passed the bill with massive votes.
Report says that until now India was reluctant to sign the nuclear without the consent of US President George W bush. Now after the signing of the bill by the US President, India will feel free to proceed further. New Delhi has already started its work on this matter as External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee is reported to visit Washington soon to sign the agreement with his US counterpart, Condoleezza Rice.
