US President George W Bush has signed the Indo-US nuclear bill on October 9, 2008 at the white House. Bush claimed the occasion as one of the red letter days in the history of Indo-US relationship. The signing of the nuclear bill was also attended by the US Vice-President Dick Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The President also appreciated the hard work done in the last three years by the US administration and that of India along with the Indian American leaders. It is because of their effort that India could be able to break the shackles of three decades of nuclear isolation.
Talking more about the N-deal, Bush said that no changes have been made in the terms and condition of the agreement. The fuel assurance commitments that the US has made to India will be followed without any amendments. According to the U President, the123 agreement also grants India advance consent to reprocessing. Meanwhile report says that the 123 agreement between India and US will be signed on the coming Friday after the arrival of the Foreign Affairs Minister, Pranab Mukherjee in Washington.
Claiming the signing of the nuclear bill as a big day, Bush said that this will send good gesture to other nations of the world. He stated that US will stand as a friend to those countries who follow the path of democracy and behave responsibly. In the last couple of years, the relation between India and US has intensified and Bush wants to transform this relation into strong strategic partnership. The US President along with his wife Laura Bush greeted the Indian American and the people of India on the occasion of Diwali.
