General Motors’ Cadillac
World’s largest automobile company General Motors is planning to launch its high-end luxury vehicle Cadillac in the Indian markets soon. A top official of the company was cited as saying.
The news is really a surprise to the India’s already flooded automobile market. GM, once if enters the luxury segment of Indian market, it would compete against luxury car makers like Audi, Mercedes and BMW.
Thus, GM has plans of launching 14 variants plus six new models in India in the next two years. The company is interested in selling Cadillac for the Indian market though it has other successful models like Pontiac and Buick.
“Last year the company had made a survey of the potential for GM's other models like Pontiac, Buick and Cadillac in India. But we found that Cadillac is having the strongest brand recognition here. We will launch Cadillac at the right time,” Karl Slym, President and Managing Director, GM India said.
Apart from this, Indians have another reason to cheer about. Yes, General Motors is planning to launch its first electric vehicle in India in coming April.
“We will be showcasing a mini electric car in India in the month of April. But it will not be for sale immediately. The timing of its introduction to the market depends on feedback. This is more like a knowledge finding exercise for us”, Slym added
