Gary Coleman, best known to portray the role of adorable, small ‘Arnold Jackson’ in one of the biggest 1970s TV sitcom, ‘Diff'rent Strokes’ died at the age 42 after suffering a brain hemorrhage.

Coleman died on Friday at 12:05 PM MDT after being admitted to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center on Wednesday.

He was described in the 1980s as ‘one of television's most promising stars’.  After a successful childhood acting career, Coleman struggled financially later in life. In 1993, he successfully sued his parents and business adviser over misappropriation of his assets.

The actor’s life was marked by legal, financial and health troubles, suicide attempts and even a 2003 run for California governor.

Gary Coleman had said, "I want to escape that legacy of Arnold Jackson. I'm someone more. It would be nice if the world thought of me as something more."

According to the statement released by Coleman family, he was conscious and well-spoken until midday Thursday but later his condition worsened and he went unconsciousness. Then the actor was put on life support.
