Bangalore-bound Gandhidham-Bengaluru Express derailed near Dombivili, Mumbai, in the wee hours of Wednesday morning causing injuires to about 12 people.
 
"The incident occurred around 2 a.m. near Dombivili on the single-line Vasai-Diva section which links the Western Railway and Central Railway," said an official of the railway control room.
 
Two of the 11 coaches which derailed overturned, causing complete damage. The passengers who were sleeping at that time escaped miraculously. The railway traffic has been restored.
 
Special train has been arranged for the passengers to reach their destinations.
 
"Twelve coaches of Gandhidham express were derailed when the train was approaching Bhiwandi in Thane district." Central Railways PRO A K Jain said.
 
“Another train was sent to the incident site and the passengers of Gandhidham Express were shifted into it”, he said. He also added that the train is now on its way to Bangalore.
