GAIL has registered a net profit of Rs.713 crore for the second quarter of the 2009-10 fiscal which ended on Sep 30.

Government gas producer GAIL has registered a net profit of Rs.713 crore for the second quarter of the 2009-10 fiscal which ended on Sep 30, which is 30% less than the Rs.1,023 crore registered during the similar period last fiscal.
 
The half-yearly profit of the firm stood at Rs.13,690 crore, reporting a 29.1% dip from the Rs.19,200 crore registred during the similar period last fiscal.
 
GAIL board has decided to raise about Rs. 500 crore by issuing bonds.
 
"Our board has approved raising of funds from the market and we will issue bonds for Rs.500 crore with greenshoe option of 50 percent," said GAIL chairman B.C. Tripathi.
 
The net income for Q2 has witnessed a 0.3% growth from the Rs.6,350 crore to be registered at Rs.6,370 crore.
