Promising Indian golfer Gaganjeet Bhullar bagged his maiden professional title by winning the PGTI Players’ Championship at the Panchkula Golf Club in Panchkula on Sunday (15th March). He scored an impressive seven-under 65 on the final day to win the Rs 30 lakh championship. The 20-year-old hit eight birdies and a bogey in the last round and totaled 19-under 269 to win by a huge margin of seven strokes. With this win he took home the winner’s purse of Rs. 4,84,950.
With this maiden professional title, Bhullar became the youngest winner on the PGTI Tour. For his impressive performance he climbed up from 38th to fourth position on the Order of Merit. Talking to media excited Bhullar said that, it was his first win since he turned professional in 2006 and has given him a lot of confidence.
Overnight joint leader Vijay Kumar and Harendra P. Gupta aggregated an identical 12-under 276 to share the second place. Among others, Order of Merit leader Mukesh Kumar finished tied fifth. Ashok Kumar shared the 14th spot with two others. Gaurav Ghei ended up at tied-21st slot.
