India seems to garner huge success in shooting. After Abhinav Bindra, it's Gagan Narang who has won the gold in the men’s 10 metre air rifle event with a world record score in the World Cup Finals in Bangkok. Abinav Bindra had won the gold medal in 2008 Beijing Olympics in air rifle event but Narang could not put up good show in the games. Winning the World Cup Finals, Narang has managed to improve his track record. The Indian shooter had to compete with top shooters in the world cup events. Narang has scored 103.5 points in the final match to attain a world record score of 703.5 in shooting world cup at Bangkok.
Indian shooter Gagan Narang broke the earlier world record set by Austrian Farnik Thomas in 2006 World Cup Final in Granada, Spain. The other participants of the finals include American Matthew Emmons and Beijing Games medalists Chinese Zhu Qinan. Both of them bagged silver and bronze medals respectively. The entry of the 25-year-old Indian shooter in Bangkok event came after he had won a bronze in the World Cup in China earlier this year.
