According to a research conducted in USA, a herb called Indian Frankincense has characteristic of reducing the symptoms of arthritis. The study conducted on arthritis patients showed that after the doses of Frankincense patients reported better movement and less pain and stiffness. Doctors have been looking for some safe analgesic. Interestingly enough, there are some effective therapies that reduce pain such as muscle strengthening exercises, shock-absorbing footwear and weight loss, but these have some bad side effects, now with Frankincense doctors are hoping for some respite for Osteoarthritis patients.
The study team was led by Dr Siba Raychaudhuri at the University of California, Davis, where they experimented on the 70 patients who had severe arthritis in their knees. They were given different levels of dosage of Frankincense, and patients reported improvements in their pain and stiffness levels. However, study concludes that Frankincense’s medium to long-term safety has to be studied.
