The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) recently approved the proposal in principle for the establishment of four new tiger reserves. According to the report these new reserves would come up in the states of Orissa, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and the Madhya Pradesh. According to the latest figures there is decline of 50% in the population of tigers in last five year. The major concern in front of government and NTCA is how to curve poaching. There has been significant decline in the population of big cats.

There have already been many issues in front of NTCA including lack of staff, technology, and lack of finance to fund awareness programme etc. According to the reports MOUs have been signed between NTCA and Ministry to overcome these issues for the larger interest of saving tiger population. Authority has approved the much required funding for research in the Institute of Wildlife of India. It seems finally the government is keen towards the protection of rich wildlife of India.
