Anna Patterson lent her expertise in building some of the foundation of Google search engine during her two year stint at the company. Now, in collaboration with her husband Tom Costello and some other former employees of Google Inc, Patterson is targeting to uproot her ex-employer.

Together they have established the Cuil search engine, which they say should provide better results and show them in a more attractive manner. The name Cuil, however, is supposed to be pronounced as ‘cool’. The developers of the Cuil are confident that their search engine will be more comprehensive than Google’s and will seek to provide users more relevant results.

Apart from Yahoo and Microsoft, Cuil is the only one among the latest companies that have been set up with the sole motive of rivaling the internet search giant Google. So far the Powerset of Microsoft and Wikia founded by Jimmy Wales have failed miserably to create a niche in the internet search market. But experts opine that the Cuil search engine may have the competing ability solely because of the fact that it is being established by the former employees of the Google Company.

Mr. Costello informs that with 120 billion Web pages, Cuil’s search index is larger than any other. Stating that it still holds the ‘largest collection of documents searchable on the Web’, Google added that it welcomes competition.
