Colin Egar, a well-known former chairman of the Australian Cricket Board and international umpire, has passed away. He was 80 years old. A statement issued by the Cricket Australia in this regard, informs that Egar had been unwell for quite sometime. It also informs that he died in Adelaide and that a private funeral was held the next day.  

 

CA chairman Creagh O'Connor said of Colin Egar that he 'will be best remembered as an outstanding international cricket umpire and for his selfless service to SA and Australian cricket.' Egar has also served as administrator at board level with the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA). Then he was chairman of Australian Cricket Board (ACB) from 1989 to 1992.
