Force India, owned by Vijay Mallya, has finally proved its potential by scoring its first ever Formula One point as the Italian Giancarlo Fisichella finished second at the Belgian Grand Prix held in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, on Sunday.

The 36-year-old Italian came second flawlessly and in a very simple manner, trailing behind Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari, which grabbed the lead with its Kinetic Energy Recovery System, for the podium finish as well as the eight valuable points.

The Italian reached the podium just behind Raikkoned, with a difference that was less than a second.

Fisichella's Force India teammate Adrian Sutil had a rather rollercoaster outing with the German eventually finishing 11th.

With this, Fisichella renewed his rendezvous with Spa, which has traditionally been compassionate to him.

It was at the same track in 1997 that Fisichella had finished second in a Jordan car.
