Long before, the Flickr users had one wish of tagging the name to the concerned person. Now it becomes easy for a user to make an easy tagging with the photos with its people tagging option.

The new tagging system is a hybrid of the original tagging tools and Flickr’s notes feature, all assembled in a compact unit. Here, the users can tag a Flickr friend or contact in the shot along with drawing a box. So when a person moves the mouse over a person, he can know about the person.

However, there is another photo-sharing service called Photobucket, which allows users link a people tag to any social-networking profile of their choice. But Flickr is solely designed for the Flickr community.

In this new feature the user and their friends are notified when a new user is added. Though the same notification happens in the Flickr’s home page when a user visits there. The users can also see all their photos either in a central location or in the profile as that of Facebok.

According to Matthew Rothenberg, Flickr’s head of product strategy and management, the privacy controls in Flickr protect all three parties: the person who shot the photo, the person in the photo, and the person who added the photo to Flickr.

If anybody wants to de-tag from the photo, then there is red button for that.

Flickr’s people-tagging system is different from Facebook's in the way that, the former doesn’t have  an inbuilt system which can remember and suggest the last few people being tagged to any given photo set. But the company said that they would rectify this drawback later.

The other features in this people tagging tool are auto-complete option and easy click option to tag with the photos. Those people who don't want to go through photos one at a time, they can just skip to Flickr’s batch organization tool, which makes it easier by tagging and de-tagging by going back and forth. It is essential when a user try to convert a photo set with one person into a batch of name tags.
