Top seed Swiss Tennis champion, Roger Federer entered his sixth successive Wimbledon final with an astounding trouncing of the invigorated Marat Safin. It took Federer just an hour and 41 minutes of fantastic performance to beat his Russian opponent by 6-3, 7-6 (7/3), 6-4 on the Centre Court on Friday, July 4.

The final of the men’s singles of the 2008 Wimbledon is going to be a not-to-be-missed event as Roger Federer will be pitted against Rafael Nadal. Spaniard Rafael Nadal had defeated Roger Federer during the final of the French Open held the previous month. Federer therefore sees the Sunday’s match as an ideal opportunity to claim his revenge against Rafael Nadal.

‘It is great,’ quipped Federer after clinching what was his 65th straight win on grass court. Thereon, he added, ‘It is a beautiful feeling to have the opportunity to win the title again.’ The Swiss player Federer looking forward to winning the Sunday’s match as by doing so he will become the first to win six consecutive titles at the All England since the 19th Century. But he says he is surprised by people’s strong predictions that Nadal would beat him and thus prevent him from making history. ‘He (Nadal) has been playing fantastically but don't write me off too quickly because this is my part of the season, Wimbledon and the US Open,’ Roger Federer remarked.
