Five Indians figure on a recent list of 40 most influential people in the global pharmaceutical industry compiled by a reputed UK magazine. It is the World Pharmaceutical Frontiers' magazine based in London that has complied these rankings, which feature prominent Indians like Ranbaxy chief Malvinder Mohan Singh.
 
The 16th placed ex- Drugs Controller General of India, M Venkateswarlu occupies the highest position among Indians. He is trailed by Ranbaxy CEO and MD Malvinder Mohan Singh on the 21st position, Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India President Ranjit Shahani on the 24th position, Aurbindo Pharma Chairman Ramprasad Reddy on the 35th and Panacea Biotec's Joint Managing Director Rajesh Jain holding the 40th rank.
 
This list of 40 most influential people in the global pharmaceutical industry is led by famous names such as Nobel Prize winners Marlo R Capecchi, Sir Martin J Evans and Oliver Smithes. The second rank is occupied by the Chairman and Chief Executive of Genentech, Arthur Levinson. The list also comprises other famous name like the former US President Bill Clinton, founder of Clinton Foundation at the ninth rank, whereas at the 25th position is American entrepreneur Warren Buffet.
