Goa has reported a suspected death due to swine flu on Saturday. The state is reporting the first death of its kind after a 67-year-old man, who was displaying the symptoms of H1N1 infection, passed away in Goa.
 
The man, who had been admitted to a private hospital, which is located outside Panaji, passed away on Saturday morning. The throat swabs of the deceased person have been sent to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) in New Delhi to confirm the nature and cause of death.
 
The deceased had arrived in Goa from Bangalore. He got admitted at the Manipal Hospital at Panaji after he was feeling uneasy and had very high fever.
 
He had been diagnosed with bronco pneumonia. The officials also told that the deceased had been suffering from diabetes. His conditioned became worse on Friday night, after which he was shifted to a ventilator, but they could not save him.
 
According to the Health department officials the swine flu spread in the state is being strictly monitored.
 
"We are keeping a close watch. It is still a suspected swine flu death. We will be in a position to confirm only after we receive test reports from Delhi," officials said.
