Russia has recorded its first swine flu death.

According to media reports, swine flu has claimed its first victim in Russia.
 
A female doctor, who had just come back from Bulgaria, succumbed to the deadly viral infection. According to reports of the news channel, Vesti TV, the doctor had been battling against the condition for the past two weeks. She had also been tested positive for H1N1/A infection.
 
"Upon receiving her samples, we immediately diagnosed her with swine flu but could not take any measures because she died the next day," said Dmitry Lvov, director of the Moscow-based Institute of Virology. Lvov has not disclosed the time and other details related to the death of the doctor.
 
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) report which was published on last Friday, the lethal virus has claimed the lives of more than 4,000 people and the total number of cases that have been tested positive is about 295,000.
