The Tata Motors appears to have made a few crucial changes to its manufacturing plan for the Nano. As per vendor sources, the automaker is now preparing to churn out a couple of thousand units from its Pantnagar plant in Uttarakhand. The Tata Motors has decided to do so to meet its October deadline despite the current hassles at its Singur plant in West Bengal.

Sources further informed that Tata Motors will roll out about a 100 units from its Uttarakhand plant per day as this state not only offers tax breaks, but is also home to many of Tata Motors' vendors. In total therefore the company will manufacture about 3000 units per month.

A source said, 'While the figure is relatively low keeping in mind the company's overall production targets, it would certainly help them meet the October deadline if the turmoil at Singur continues.' It was earlier announced by the Tata Motors Company that it has selected a number of locations from where its much-touted Rs one lakh car will get manufactured.

An official from the Tata Motors Company said, 'Tata Motors maintains that Singur would be the first and mother plant for Nano.' But he refrained from saying anything about other manufacturing units.
