The first death caused due to H1N1 virus has been recorded in Europe. The Scottish officials were quoted saying that the person who died had the disease.
The news of this death in Europe came on 154 June, 2009, Sunday, just a few days after the disease had been labeled as a pandemic by the chief of the World Health Organization, Margaret Chan.
According to the Health Ministry of Scotland, the victim had been diagnosed with the underlying conditions and symptoms of the H1N1 infection. But any further information on the deceased was not given by the officials.
According to the health minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, the risk of public developing the infection had remained low. She was quoted saying that even though the death of the victim is tragic, the majority of the people who have been infected with the H1N1 virus are displaying symptoms of a mild type.

Out of the entire total of 1,261 cases of Britain, 498 cases have been confirmed from Scotland. This is the current highest among European nations.
On a global basis, majority of the deaths resulted from the H1N1 virus has been reported from the city of Mexico. The H1N1 virus was detected for the first time in Mexico. But the major number of confirmed infected cases is in United States, with a total of 13,000 people.
The World Health Organization had declared this influenza as a pandemic one on 11 June, 2009. The WHO has advised all the governments to prepare themselves for a long war against the virus.
