The digital entertainment services company, Real Networks Incorporation, in collaboration with India telecommunication giant, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) announced to provide emoticon SMS services for the first time in India. The announcement came at CTIA Wireless 2008 in Las Vegas which will enable 39 million subscribers of BSNL to avail this service by the end of this year. Emoticon SMS is one of the value-added services offered by Real Networks Incorporation which makes smsing fun and engaging.
The subscribers of emoticon SMS service will automatically have their traditional SMS text converted into SMS emoticons. With the launch of this service, BSNL shall turn a market leader in providing value-added services in India. Those who would use the emoticon SMS service can choose from about 4,000 emoticons in 500 themes, hence enabling the subscriber to create unique personalized message, in accordance with the relation with the contact. Real Networks Incorporation showcased emoticon SMS and other entertainment services on April 3rd at the CTIA Wireless 2008 in Las Vegas.
