I&B Ministry's Films Division has proposed to make a movie on the life of legendary music composer Sachin Dev Burman. Rajiv Kumar, the director of the Eastern Regional Centre of the Films Division has informed the government of Tripura regarding this matter. When asked about the proposed movie on SD Burman, Tripura Information and Cultural Affairs Minister, Anil Sarkar said that his government is ready to provide all possible help and support in making the film.

 

The film will be directed by noted Bengali film actor-director Dilip Roy. Born in Comilla’s Chortha village (now in Bangladesh), Burman was a renowned Bollywood music composer and Bengali singer. The legend composed music for 100 movies including Bengali films. The compositions of Burman were sung by noted singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammad Rafi, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle and so many others.

 

His son Rahul Dev Burman has also earned popularity as a Bollywood music director. On the 101st birth anniversary of the music composer, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology had brought out a commemorative postage stamp on SD. Burman. Interacting with the media, Anil Sarkar informed that the government of Tripura has introduced Sachin Dev Burman Memorial Award in 2006 and it is presented to well-known singers and musicians.
