Renowned filmmaker Tapan Sinha has been put on life support system following serious illness. Sinha was admitted to the intensive cardiac care unit at the Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) on December 5 after suffering from severe chest infection and acute respiratory problems. As per the hospital officials, Tapan Sinha's condition has not improved considerably after 10 days of medical attention.
Informing more about Sinha, the officials said that at the moment the veteran is in a critical condition as his pulse rate is very low and he is responding to medication with much difficulty. Doctors are monitoring his heath condition round the clock.
The winner of 19 National awards, Tapan Sinha was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the central government. The films of the 84-year-old Tapan Sinha have been conferred with several laurels in domestic and international film festivals. His best works includes Bengali and Hindi movies like 'Ankush', 'Uphaar', 'Ek Doctor Ki Maut', 'Safed Haathi', 'Kabuliwala' and 'Sagina Mahato'. Tapan Sinha played an instrumental role in introducing new-wave cinema in India.
