Top seed Roger Federer of Switzerland will play defending champion Rafael Nadal of Spain in final of French Open on Sunday. Federer reached into the final after defeating Gael Monfils of France by 6-2, 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 in the semifinals. Federer already has won 12 Grand Slam titles, two short of 14 titles won by Pete Sampras of US. Sunday would decide his luck at Rolland Garros when he will meet Rafael Nadal in final whether he wins his 13th title or not.
On the other hand Rolland Garros has been good hunting ground for Nadal where he has won three consecutive titles. He defeated Novak Djokovic of Serbia by 6-4, 6-2, 7-6 (7/3) in the semi-final to reach into the final. If this time he wins the title by defeating Roger Federer he will equal Bjorn Borg’s record of four straight wins of title in French Open.
Federer is 6-10 overall against Nadal, including 1-8 on clay and 0-3 at the French Open, where they also met in the 2005 semifinals. However, these statistics do not seem to have any influence on Roger Federer. Federer said that he will try everything and he is hopeful that he will finally win here.
