The Director of US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Robert Mueller is expected to continue his service under the Obama administration. Robert Mueller was the spearhead of the Bush administration's fight against terrorism. According to sources, the FBI director has wished to serve out a 10-year term. Robert Mueller became the director of FBI on September 4, 2001, a week before the September 11 attacks. The Director implemented all the plans and polices on prevention of terrorism during the tenure of George W Bush. Before joining the FBI, Mueller had served as an officer for three years in United States Marine Corps.

Earlier there were speculations that Robert Mueller will retire from the post of FBI Director after the November 4 US Presidential elections. But the FBI Director has put an end to the speculations by stating that he did not intend to leave until his single term expires in September 2011. After his appointment as the FBI Director, Mueller has come under scanner for wiretapping, interrogation of suspected terrorists and other civil-liberties issues. FBI has also been alleged of widespread misuse of so-called national security letters to demand records about individuals in terrorism investigations.
