After damaging Haiti and the Dominican Republic tropical storm 'Fay' has hit Florida for fourth time. According to CNN reports it has killed 11 persons in Florida, and one in Georgia. President Bush has proclaimed emergency in the state of Florida, which will enable state to receive federal funds for relief efforts and other related projects.
There has been expectation of Fay being reaching the state of Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. Reportedly, Fay was moving west at 11 km per hour, it first hit Florida at its southern tip, Key West, and then crossed the southwestern portion of the peninsula before again moving offshore. BBC has reported that heavy rains and flooding have left tens of thousands of people without power in Florida.
Fay has already killed nearly 50 persons dead in flooding and landslides in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Charlie Crist, Governor of Florida has appealed citizens that a lot of us are certainly suffering from Fay fatigue, but we've got to stay focused. He expressed that Fay is a big storm, and it's causing a lot of damage all over the state.
