A research carried out by US scientists shows that excessive intake of Vitamin E could increase risk of bleeding. The research paper is published in 'Nutrition Reviews.' The report said that higher doses of vitamin E could lead to bleeding in certain individuals as according to researchers it interferes with vitamin K. Vitamin K is a key component that helps clotting of blood.
This is not the first report that says about negative impacts of Vitamin E in case of excessive intake. Earlier, the US-based Food and Nutrition Board had announced that the daily intake of vitamin E should be not more than 1500 IU in order to prevent further bleeding. On the other hand, a report from Johns Hopkins establishes that intake of Vitamin E of more than 400 IU could be deadly.
The conflicting benefits and side-effects of Vitamin E have been the subject matter of research. Vitamin E is prescribed to those who have problem of blood clotting. Now, the new research shows that liver's vitamin E level is associated with reduced vitamin K level. However, the roles and importance of the various forms of vitamin E are presently unclear.
