The newly elected government in Nepal which was determined on ousting ex-King Gyanendra from the throne recently, has now almost conceded to his request of granting him the Nagarjuna Palace for accommodation. It was reported by the Kantipur daily on Wednesday 4 June that the key leaders of the three major Nepali political parties - Nepali Congress (NC), the Communist Party Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) and Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) – are positively considering the request of the ex-King for using the Nagarjuna Palace for time being.

It was also reported that the Prime minister of the Himalayan Kingdom, Girija Prasad Koirala convened a meeting with Maoist chief Prachanda and other leaders recently to deliberate on this issue. The daily underscored that the Nepali leaders are genuinely considering the request of ex-King Gyanendra to grant him the Nagarjuna Palace for use as he had amicably agreed to the decision of the people. A formal decision on this matter will, however, be taken during the next cabinet meeting to be held shortly. The former King of Nepal, Gyanendra was recently served the notice to vacate the royal place within the coming weeks.
