In a couple of years' time when you enter any airport in the European Union, you will no longer be physically frisked during security checks. Instead you will be made to pass through a booth-like unit that will beam electromagnetic waves on to body to create a virtual three-dimensional 'naked' image from reflected energy.

Authorities hold this is a more effective way for ensuing security than the earlier one. The graphic image of your body that will be created is alarming in other ways also. For instance, the scanned image will outline the person's genitalia as well. One hears that these will remain stored for long time for security reasons before being deleted.

One hears that Britain has already conducted a voluntary trail run on the Heathrow Airport, but has now been discontinued. The Opposition and privacy groups are reportedly irked up about this virtual strip search. The new EU regulation is intended to enter into force across the continent by the end of April 2010.
