A group from a key multinational company of India has reached Islamabad in order to explore possibilities of trade investment in Pakistan. This development is taking place after the External Affairs Minister of India, Mr Pranab Mukherjee on a recent visit to the country discussed ways with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government on enhancing economic ties between the two nations. The Essar Group’s Ruia brothers Shashi and Ravi met with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Yusuf Raza Gillani on Tuesday, June 3.
They informed him that the had made $40 million investment worldwide and is interested in doing the same in Pakistan as well in sectors such as energy, steel and shipping. The present economic ties of India with Pakistan is limited and Pakistan has not made any formal announcement on enhancing it. But the PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari sure did show much inclination for it during the recent bilateral meeting with the Indian External Affairs Minister.
