Ericsson India has launched Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) technology to provide a host of broadband services. The new fiber technology has been launched by Ericsson in collaboration with property management services provider, Radius Synergies. Ericsson India is the first company to introduce FTTH technology in the country, which aims to connect homes to a breadth of high-end data, TV and communications services. With the help of the new fiber technology, Ericsson India has connected about 3000 homes near New Delhi.
The application of FTTH technology will help the consumers to enjoy a host of services like personalized IPTV in high-definition, video-on-demand, broadband, security services, automated lighting and electricity bill payment. The new communication infrastructure developed with the help of FTTH technology also offers Wi-Fi and high-speed downloads. The new services are made available to the people by Ericsson's high-speed fiber access solution, Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON).
With the help of GPON, the residents can choose internet service provider as per their choice. The GPON delivers converged services for consumers including voice, data and video offerings. The consumers can access services like connected-home activation, security and lighting control through deep fiber access network of Ericsson. Ericsson has applied its EDA 1500 GPON system to build up the communication infrastructure. According to Gowton Achaibar, President, Ericsson India and Sri Lanka, the FTTH technology is expected to grow rapidly in India as the demand for broadband services is increasing from time to time.
