Epson has launched the Perfection V600 Photo, a scanner designed for both, professional and hardcore amateur photographers.

It is a colour scanner of flatbed design, which flaunts 6,400-dpi resolution and 48-bit colour depth. For those consumers who would like to scan media such as 35-mm slides, negatives, and medium-format panoramic film (6cm x 22cm), the scanner comes with a built-in transparency unit.

The scanner sports the dimensions 11 inches by 19 inches and weighs only 4 kilograms. The scanner also incorporates Digital ICE technology to remove the effects of dust, scratches, creases, and other blemishes from images. To eliminate warm up time, the Perfection V600 employs an LED light source, which also consumes less energy. On the scanner are four customizable buttons that lets users copy, scan to e-mail and create PDFs with a single touch of the button.

Along with the scanner, customers are given the complementary bundled software which includes Easy Photo Fix, Adobe Photoshop Elements, ABBYY FineReader Sprint Plus OCR, Epson Creativity Suite and lastly, the drivers for the scanner.

Pricing details are still hazy but it is believed the scanner will be available for $250 or a little more than Rs. 12,000.
