Dibakar Banerjee, who has made films like, “Khosla Ka Ghosla” and “Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye”, is now making a voyeuristic film which will be produced by Ekta Kapoor.
The film is inspired by the controversial comedy film “Borat” .The film will have the real footage of people with or without their knowledge and permission.
Dibakar Banarjee says, "My film goes a step further from Borat. Nothing like this has been seen in India before. There, the main character, Borat was played by Sacha Baron Cohen, who was already a celebrity. I will be shooting real people, some of whom, may or may not know that we are shooting them”.
"We are following with the camera and will be improvising some sequences as we go along. We will be taking the camera from the bedroom, to the sewer, canal, bathroom, bus, picnic spot, hanging from a fan in a room even hidden in a handbag in a makeup van or restaurant anywhere. The actors will wield the camera”, the director adds.
Dibakar Banarjee says that his film is a funny film, "We are not trying to shy away or sugarcoat anything. It's very funny, provocative and a unique concept. I don't even know if we can call it a film format. The central idea or mood is pure voyeurism”.
The director discloses that Ekta Kapoor was so shocked when he told her about the film that her jaw fell open.
“There is a provocative and challenging side to her persona which she doesn't want to give up”, Dibakar Banarjee said.
"I was blown away by Dibakar's script. For me, voyeurism is entertainment. In Facebook, we are all voyeurs where we are constantly peeping into other's lives. We love watching reality shows like Bigg Boss”, Ekta Kapoor said.
“We are all voyeurs and it's a new way of character assassination but instead of the pen, the camera is the new weapon to expose one's private life. It's a new zone of filmmaking for me and why not? My films may not be super hits but at least they talk to the youth”, she adds.
