A study undertaken in the US has revealed that the consumption of eggs can help prevent breast cancer. Choline, an essential nutrient found in food items such as eggs, is believed to reduce the risk of breast cancer by about 24 per cent. The consumption of choline by women of child-bearing age is considered particularly necessary to reduce the danger of breast cancer. The egg yolk contains the choline nutrient, which is believed to be preventing this deadly disease especially prevalent in women above 25 of age.

Choline is believed to play a crucial role in the regular functioning of cells, transportation of essential nutrients in the body and for brain and nerve function. Other essential sources of choline include cauliflowers, skim milk, wheat germ and liver. In the past also, studies have been undertaken which have revealed that the consumption of eggs lessens the risk of breast cancer. The research is believed to generate more awareness in women about the benefits of choline and how they can reduce the danger of the lethal disease.
