Scientists from the Ohio State University have revealed that eating bugs is nutritious as well as environmental friendly. The Scientists now urge people to resort to entomophagy, which means eating spiders and grasshoppers. This according to them would keep down pests and put much less strain on the planet then eating conventional meat.

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) had also held a special conference last year, highlighting their benefits. The Scientists have dubbed these insects as ‘micro-livestock’. David George Gordon, a Seattle based naturalist and author remarked that the insects are the most valuable and underused and delicious animals in the world. Studies have also revealed that insects are rich in protein and essential nutrients and contain much less cholesterol and much more unsaturated fat, then other kinds of meat.  Scientists at the National Autonomous University of Mexico have listed 1700 different species of insects. They have also discovered that bugs are eaten in at least 113 countries globally.
