On the night of Friday, September 5, 2008, a minor earthquake shook the San Francisco Bay area. The preliminary report from the U.S. Geological Survey stated that the quake was of 4.0-magnitude and took place just after 9 pm. It also mentioned that the epicenter of the Friday earthquake was located near Alamo, Calif., about 28 miles east of San Francisco.
The earthquake tremors could be felt throughout the region. Jimmy Lee, the Contra Costa County Sheriff's spokesman, informed that no immediate report of damage or injuries had trickled in from either Alamo or its adjoining areas due to quake. People at the San Francisco Giants' waterfront ballpark felt the quake tremors during game with the Pittsburgh Pirates. But the sport was not interrupted due to it.
