The Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh police has killed dreaded dacoit Ambika Patel alias Thokia in the jungles of Chitrakoot district. The encounter lasted for three hours, and it cost the life of a civilian who was guiding police personnel. Thokia’s name was ultimate terror in the region and there were 60 criminal cases of looting, kidnapping and murder against him.

 

However, the team could not nab other members of the gang as they fled away and disappeared into near by jungles. Soon after the encounter, gang members tried to take away the body of leader but police failed their mission as police surrounded the area and after a brief exchange of fire, the gang members fled away and left his body.

 

There was Rs 6 lakh cash reward on his head announced by the state government. After the news of his death in encounter with STF came out, Director General of Police Vikram Singh announced out-of-turn promotions and cash award for the STF personnel. STF team was led by SSP Amitabh Yash and additional SP Anant Deo.
